The vessel 'Barbara' has been arranged to re-freight six containers with 105 metric tons of crude coconut oil were brought to the South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) of the Colombo Port this morning, Customs Deputy Director (Legal Affairs) and Media Spokesman Sudattha Silva said.
He said the crude coconut oil consignment will be re-freighted by Katana Refineries (Pvt) Ltd today. The loading of the cargo to the ship is scheduled for around 9.30 am.
The crude coconut oil containers were kept under customs security.
The controversial consignment of carcinogenic coconut oil bowsers was seized by the Dankotuwa police on March 30 following a tip-off that they had contained substandard oil.
The drivers of the two bowsers were also arrested by the Police.
The initial tests carried out by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) revealed that imported crude coconut oil contained Aflatoxin.
Upon receiving the report, the Customs Director-General had told the relevant companies to prepare re-shipping the contaminated coconut oil. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
