The prison officers found eight packs containing illegal substances thrown into the women's section of the Welikanda Prison.
Prison spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said the packs were thrown from the Wanathamulla area were found on the protective nets inside the prison.
Accordingly, the officers found 14 cell phone batteries, 700 mg of heroin, 1,500 mg of ice, 2,035 mg of ash and 34,605 mg of tobacco.
The seized conyraband have been handed over to the Borella Police for further investigations.(DSB)
