Constable who died in rescue missions promoted posthumously

The 29-year-old Police Constable, Dilan Sampath, who died while trying to rescue three people trapped in the floods in Madampe, promoted to the rank of Sergeant by IGP Pujith Jayasundara.

The constable, attached to the Madampe Police Station went missing when a group of police officers tried to rescue three persons who were swept away by flood waters on Friday.

His body was recovered today by the navy.
