Committee appointed to probe recent escapes at Kandakadu

Colombo, Jan. 16 (Daily Mirror)- A five-member committee has been appointed to investigate the incidents related to the escape of inmates of the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center.

The committee has been appointed by the Ministry of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe to probe the incident and submit necessary recommendations.

Accordingly, Supreme Court Judge Hector Yapa will lead the committee while Additional Secretary Ministry of Public Security M.S.P. Sunrise, , Additional Secretaries of the Ministry of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms R.S. Hapugawatta and Piyumanthi Pieris and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence D. M Saman Dissanayake appointed as other members.

The minister has instructed the five-member committee to submit the report containing the investigation and recommendation regarding the incident within 03 weeks.
