Committed to achieving sustained peace and prosperity: PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in a New Year message, that the dawn of spring brought the flourish of nature and nourishes the human spirit, as we think about the ideas of cooperation and forgiveness.

“Sinhala and Tamil New Year is the foremost national festivity celebrated across the country in the splendour of spring. It provides the ideal setting to deepen relationships with each other and share our rich cultural heritage,” the Premier said in his message.

While wishing all Sri Lankans a joyful Sinhala and Tamil New Year that inspires the commitment to achieve sustained peace and prosperity, he said this New Year will be celebrated with traditional customs, to convey their importance to the next generation.

"This would ensure that future generations are proud of our traditions and our nation" the message stated.
