The Colombo District, Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamath (SLTJ) organiser who was arrested at Keselwatte recently was further remanded by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna today.

The Magistrate gave the ruling because investigations into the case had not been concluded. The suspect was found to be in possession of 21 leaflets dealing with the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) movement. Counsel Mushra Zarook and Safraz Haris, who appeared on behalf of the suspect on an earlier date, told the Magistrate that the suspect belonged to another faction called the Sri Lanka Thowheed Jamath and not the proscribed NTJ movement.

The Magistrate had asserted that the suspect was arrested under the PTA Act and the court had no jurisdiction to release the suspect on bail. The Western Province Intelligence Division of the police had arrested the suspect Mohamed Farook Mohamed Fawaz at Keselwatte. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
