A vessel taken over from the China, to increase the operational capabilities of the Sri Lanka Navy, arrived at the Colombo port this morning.
The official taking over ceremony of the P 625 ship to the Sri Lanka Navy from the Republic of China, was held at the Shanghai Dockyard in China on June 5.
The ship arrived at the Colombo harbour was warmly welcomed in compliance with time-honoured naval traditions.
Subsequently, Navy Commander Commander Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva flanked by senior officers, made an inspection visit onboard the ship and supervised the functional and operational aspects of the vessel.
This ship built in 1994, is 112m long and 12.4 in width has a displacement capacity of 2,300 tons.
