A new consignment of 1000 metric tonnes of rice donated by China arrived at the Colombo Port this morning, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka said.
The donation which has arrived in 100,000 packs will be donated to schools islandwide and the distribution will begin soon.
The Chinese Embassy said that with this latest donation, a total of 7000 metric tonnes of rice has been donated to Sri Lanka since June.
