China shares virus knowledge with SL and 18 other nations in onine conference

Chinese health officials and experts and their counterparts from 19 countries in Euro-Asia and South Asia, including Sri Lanka held an online video conference on the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus on Friday, the China Daily reported.

Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Peking University First Hospital answered over 80 questions from these countries.

They also introduced the development trend and characteristics of the epidemic, as well as China's experience in epidemic prevention and control, clinical treatment and customs quarantine.

The meeting extended to four hours from the planned two hours and about 200 people including government officials, health experts and representatives of the World Health Organization stationed in these countries attended the meeting..

According to the Chinese side's introduction, the latest situation of fighting against the virus in China continues to improve, and production and living order have been restored at a fast pace.

China has been actively engaged in international cooperation on the prevention and control of the epidemic in an open, transparent and responsible manner. The fight against the epidemic requires the solidarity and coordination of the international community, and China will work with other countries to jointly safeguard global public health security.

Meanwhile, Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka quoting Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Chief Epidemiologist in Sri Lanka said "Very informative, highly useful. Our questions fully answered. Remarkable to control virus spreading in a short time."
