Responding to BBC news report "Backlash in China after front-line doctor dies" and published on Daily Mirror website, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said the Chinese Government and people highly appreciate the tremendous contribution of their medical workers, which is a key to the successful control of COVID-19 pandemic in China.

“We attach great importance to the protection of these health professionals, and minimize any possible threat to them. The latest figure in May shows less than 3,400 infected and 23 died, mostly in Hubei Province, which is still a great loss to China. Moreover, what highly inspired us and the world is that not a single infection or death occurred from among the 42,000 medical workers from across China who voluntarily joined the fight against the COVID-19 in Hubei. It exactly shows how much respect and protection China has extended to the front line heroes.

With great sadness and regret, the world also learn that 62,344 health care professionals were infected, 291 have died in US according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than 200 medical workers died in UK. Huge backlash on lack of PPE and other protection in both countries were also heard. We extend our highest respect and sincere condolence to all the martyrs across the world, and oppose any similar double-standard fake news lack of basic facts and full of stigmas,” an Embassy Spokesperson said in a statement.
