Channa Jayasumana appointed acting Cabinet Minister of Health

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana as the acting Cabinet Minister of Health, the President’s Media Division said.

Prof. Jayasumana also acts as the State Minister of Drug Production, Supply and Regulation.

The acting Minister was sworn in before President Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (16).

Prof. Jayasumana will be in office until the Minister in charge of the subject returns to work.

Subject Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi is currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 at the IDH.

Meanwhile, Roshan Ranasinghe was appointed as the State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government.

He previously served as the State Minister of Land Management, Public Enterprises, Land and Property Development.

Ranasinghe was also sworn in as the new State Minister before the President at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.

The State Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government was previously held by Rear Admiral (Rtd) Dr. Sarath Weerasekera. The State Ministry became vacant following the appointment of Sarath Weerasekera as the Minister of Public Security. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
