Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP, Champika Ranawaka today continued the suspense surrounding whether he would contest the Presidential Elections in 2025 saying it was 'too early to say anything'.

Speaking to reporters, Ranawaka, who is rumored to be preparing to contest the next Presidential Polls said there was ample time for the elections and the Provincial Council Elections and the Local Government Elections would have to be faced before the Presidential Polls.

"The Leader of the Opposition has expressed his desire to contest once again. This is the current situation, besides we don’t know who the ruling party candidate will be. Will it be Basil Rajapaksa or will it be the incumbent President who will go in for a second term or whether it will be Minister Namal Rajapaksa. Nothing is finalized on the presidential elections yet,” Ranawaka said.

Meanwhile, Ranawaka further said he had embarked on a mission of introducing a new generation of politicians as demanded by the people of this country, especially the youth.

“Many including the youth demand that a new generation of politicians should come up to bring about a change in Sri Lanka’s political fabric. Therefore I have embarked on fulfilling that need. However I cannot divulge details on this at the moment,” he said. (Yohan Perera)
