Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said that a system will be formulated to automatically cancel the cases against police officers if the charge sheets against them are not completed within six months.
The Minister said that human rights cases have been filed against police officers for doing their duty and that steps would be taken to provide relief to such persons.
While participating in the community police program in the Kandy District, Minster Weerasekera said that there were officers who had long-standing charge sheets.
He said a program is being prepared in collaboration with the Secretary to the Ministry and the IGP to resolve the matter.(DSB)
