The Cabinet is reported to have objected to a memo submitted by Minister Sagala Ratnayake requesting approval to extend the service of an official in the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA).

Sources said this officer is known to have been allegedly involved in several cases of fraud and corruption and a file containing such instances had been submitted by Minister Arjuna Ranatunga who had also objected to the extension of the officer’s service.
