Cabinet approval for PM to recruit 7,500 PAs

The Cabinet on Tuesday gave the green light to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to recruit 7,500 Project Assistants (PAs) to carry out the government's development programmes speedily and productively.

The unemployed youth who have studied up to GCE (A/L) are qualified to apply for the post of PAs. They will be recruited under the National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Development, Vocational Training and Skills Development and Youth Affairs Ministries.

They will be paid a monthly remuneration of Rs.15,000 up to one year.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal submitted by President Maithripala Sirisena to build 1,000 mini bridges across the country to develop and refurbish rural roads.

The National Engineering Research and Development Center (NERD) will carry out the mini bridge project which would be completed by 2020. (Sandun A Jayasekera)
