COVID-19 syrup not tested at Wathupitiwala hospital, don’t rely on it: GMOA

The Ayurvedic syrup claimed to cure COVID-19, developed by Ayurvedic practitioner Dhammika Bandara of Hettimulla, Kegalla was not officially tested at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge told the Daily Mirror that the Director of Wathupitiwala hospital confirmed that no official test was performed on the syrup.

He said clarification required to find as to what had happened during the alleged testing, and moreover, whether it was done on personal interest or not. 

However, basic health practices should be followed until the results of the tests are announced he said.

He also requested the people not to rely on these types of uncertified and untested syrups claimed to be medicines. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
