Reappointed Chairman of Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and Political Bureau member of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Sunil Handunnetti has requested the government to establish a Special Court to inquire into the controversial issues contained in the Forensic Audit Report of the Central Bank Bond Scam.

He said that he has requested to establish a special court to punish the offenders whose names had been appeared in the five segments of the forensic audit report that has been published thus far.

He said that the report contained observations of the COPE, audit reports of the Auditor General and outcomes of the investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the said Bond issuance.

He emphasised that the government has to take swift action through a judicial process to recover the losses done to the Central Bank, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the people of the country.

If anybody has any issue on the preparation of the forensic audit report he or she can call auditors to the court, once it is set up, he observed. (Dayaseeli Liyanage)
