CID scrutinising over 1,800 telephone numbers

More than 1,800 telephone numbers used by the Easter Sunday suicide bombers and others are being closely scrutinised by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.

SP Gunasekara said several telephone numbers among the 1,800, belonged to those who had connections with suicide bombers.

He said investigations into the Easter Sunday bomb attacks on April 21 were being successfully carried out by the CID and the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).

“ Twenty six (26) computers, including 23 laptops, 138 mobile phones and tabs, 30 external hard disks, 12 pen drives, 142 sim cards and 67 CDs, DVDs and DVRs were taken into custody and being analysed by the CID in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks,” the Spokesman said.

He said 66 suspects, including seven women had been detained and are being questioned by the CID. 

Twenty one (21) additional suspects that include two women arrested over the attacks are being questioned by the TID.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
