Filing a motion before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday requested to issue an order directing the Swiss Embassy to handover the mobile phones of Swiss Embassy employee Garnier Banistar Francis and her husband to the Criminal Investigation Department.

CID also requested to issue an order to the Prison Authorities to allow CID officials to record a statement from Garnier Banistar at the prison.

After hearing the request, the Magistrate told the CID officials that they would have to make this particular request when the suspect is produced before courts.

Swiss Embassy employee Garnier Banistar Francis, who was allegedly threatened and abducted by a group of unidentified men, was remanded till December 30. (Yoshitha Perera)
