Bus strike on Southern Expressway

Private bus operators on the Southern Expressway from Maharagama to Galle and Matara have commenced a strike this morning against the granting of permits for more buses along the expressway illegally.

President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gamunu Wijeratna said most of the buses on the expressway plying illegally and charged that the former regime had given illegal permits without following proper tender procedures.

He said the current regime is continuing that act by giving more permits illegally.(CP)
