The Transport Ministry has planned to launch bus services to all parts of the country from the Makumbura Multimodal Centre in Kottawa soon, Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge said.
He said this after an opening ceremony of Hatton National Bank (HNB) and Peoples' Bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) units and National Development Lottery Board outlet at the Multimodal Centre yesterday.
The minister also said that many other facilities also will be added for the convenience of the passengers who use this hub for their travel needs.
'The 'Park and Ride' system will also be introduced in the near future to ease traffic congestion and enable people to park their vehicles and to visit the Colombo city.
Once the system is introduced, road traffic congestion in the city of Colombo will be reduced drastically," Minister Lokuge said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
