A Brazilian woman was arrested by the Customs with pellets of cocaine in her stomach at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday, police said.

They said the 50-year-old woman had arrived from Doha yesterday morning.

The Customs officials and the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) at the BIA arrival lounge had become suspicious over her behaviour and had subsequently taken her into custody for questioning.

Later she was admitted to the Negombo Hospital, where the contraband was retrieved under medication.

Police said so far 52 pellets had been extricated from her and she was still under medication. (DSB and T.K.G. Kapila)
