JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said today the two main camps were creating a fear psychosis among the people to secure their votes and stressed the need to defeat both of these corrupt political camps.

He told a news conference at Dambulla that the Rajapaksas looted votes by highlighting the electric chair and were creating a fear psychosis by highlighting the Easter Sunday attack while Sajith’s faction was creating a “Gota” fear psychosis.

“On the one hand the Rajapaksas are claiming that national security fallen to zero and that they will ensure maximum security. These rulers betrayed the security forces,” Mr. Herath said adding that on the other hand Sajith Premadasa was highlighting a ‘Gota’ phobia by talking about the white van culture and disappearances and urging the people to vote for him.

He said the two camps were also instigating racism and extremism to gain votes with MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage heard promising to establish a Muslim school in Kandy and other benefits to the Muslim community if they voted for Gota.

Commenting on the release of the Royal Park murder convict, Mr. Herath said it was a disgrace to the country to release a murder suspect when there were strong protests against corruption, drugs and crimes.

“In our manifesto, we have included the abolishing the extreme powers vested in the president to prevent such action. We have included a sentence to make the peoples’ representatives be public servants without perks and privileges,’ he said.

Mr. Herath requested the people not to be misled by so-called fake surveys and added that this kind of fake news was being circulated for their advantage. (Ajith Siriwardana and Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa)
