Bharatha killing: Defence evidence concluded, fixed for oral submissions

Defence evidence in connection with the case against former Parliamentarian Duminda Silva and 12 others over the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others was concluded today before the Trial at Bar in the Colombo High Court.

The Trial at Bar including Justices Shiran Gunaratne, Pathmini N. Ranawaka and M.C.B.S. Morais fixed the case for oral submissions on May 24.

Concluding the Defence evidence, father of Duminda Silva, Premalal Silva, had given a testimony before the trial at bar, while 12th and 13th accused had delivered dock statements in court.

Earlier, the Attorney General had filed indictments against 13 individuals including Duminda Silva, on seventeen (17) counts over the killing of the Former Presidential Adviser on Trade Unions Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, and three of his aides.
