The prices of bakery products might increase if the government grants permission to the prime flour importing companies to increase their prices, All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association (ACBOA) President N.K. Jayawardene said.
He told the Daily Mirror that they had also received information about requests to raise the price of wheat flour.
"Wheat flour companies have made several requests on several occasions. "It is too early to predict that they would not get that permission," he said.
The recent increase in fuel prices has also had an impact on the production of his bakery products.
Mr. Jayawardene added that the Association has yet to make a decision on a price increase. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
