Baddegama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman (SLPP) Anura Narangoda was arrested today for allegedly assaulting two men on September 12, police said.
They said the chairman was arrested after he surrendered to the Wanduramba police.
According to the police, a group of men including the PS Chairman who were returning from a wedding had allegedly assaulted the two victims following a heated argument.
The injured men were admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.
Police said the PS chairman would be produced in the Baddegama Magistrate's Court. (D.G Sugathapala)
