It has been identified that the new coronavirus can spread easily in air conditioned spaces.

"Since air conditioned rooms are not constantly ventilated, the likelihood of the virus spreading in an enclosed space is higher. If someone coughs in an air conditioned space the droplets that persons emits would survive longer in an air conditioned than in sunlight,” explained Physician Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).

Dr. Wijewickrama said therefore it is advisable to keep a space well ventilated and exposed to sunlight. He also cautioned against spending prolonged time periods in air conditioned spaces such as supermarkets, adding that it is advisable to avoid such places.
