In a major development for Sri Lanka's healthcare sector, the government has unveiled ‘Swastha’ an information management system, creating a platform for people to access the availability of drugs they wish to purchase.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Health Ministry Additional Secretary Dr. Saman Rathnayake said, “This comprehensive system will ensure that pharmaceuticals, surgical items and consumables are readily available to healthcare providers, enabling them to deliver high-quality care to patients across the country,”

“The Swastha system also boasts enhanced interoperability, allowing seamless communication among all healthcare institutions, from the highest levels down to the ward and pharmacy counters. This connectivity will ensure a smooth flow of information and resources, ultimately leading to improved patient care,” the Additional Secretary added.

The introduction of Swastha marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka's ongoing efforts to provide accessible and quality healthcare to all citizens. With this innovative information management system, the government is poised to streamline operations, maximize efficiency and ultimately enhance the overall healthcare experience for the population.
