Assets exceeding Rs. 6 bn, Rs.134 mn in 100 bank accounts of suspects: Police

Assets exceeding Rs. 6 billion were found from suspects who had abetted the mastermind of the Easter Sunday terrorist attack, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.

"Lands, buildings, vehicles and other movable properties were among more than Rs. 6 billion worth of assets and the CID is seeking advice to freeze them," he said.

Procedures would be taken to declare the assets as prohibited," he said.

A sum of more than Rs.134 million in hundred bank accounts of 41 suspects had also been recovered by the CID and more than Rs.20 million worth of money had been taken under the CID custody`.

Meanwhile, 2, 919 telephone numbers and 169 mobile IMEI numbers were being analysed by the CID to reveal more information regards to the easter attack, the Spokesman added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
