A suspect, Chaminda Galaboda alias Utiya, who was arrested for assaulting two novice monks in a temple in Horowpathana, was remanded till September 24, police said.
Police launched an investigation into the incident based on video footage, which has gone viral on social media with regard to the assault on the two novice monks.
The two novice monks are currently receiving treatments at the Anuradhapura General Hospital
