Archbishop Emeritus Oswald Gomis passed away at the age of 90 during early hours today while being treated at a private hospital.
The Late Archbishop received his primary education at St. Bendict’s College Kotahena and at St. Joseph’s College Colombo. He was ordained a priest in February 1958 and was appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo in 1968. Later he was appointed as the Bishop of Anuradhapura and as Archbishop of Colombo in 2002.
The late Bishop was one time Chancellor of Colombo University. Funeral will be held on the 6th February.
