Airmen among A’pura base camp fuel theft

Five suspects, including an air force soldier handling disciplinary matters and a leading airman who were apprehended on suspicion over the theft of 2900 liters of fuel stocked for the use of the Anuradhapura SLAF Base Camp, were refused bail by the Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Janaka Prasanna Samarasinghe, when they were produced in court on Monday (15) and ordered to be remanded until July 29. 

The suspects identified as T.A. Thilina Nuwan Bandara, D.M. Dammika Karunarathne, M.P. Gayan Pramitha Thilakaratne, K.A. Chamara Sampath Kodituwakku and Rangapathiyalage Siriwardene are residents of Thekkawatte, Mahagalkadawala, Divulapitigasgama in Maho, Idunugala in Maradankadawala and Usgala Siyambalangamuwa in Galgamuwa. 

Producing the suspects in court, the Anuradhapura Police Crime Investigation Operations Unit stated in their B-report that Sgt. Medagedara Pivituru Roshan who was serving at the Anuradhapura SLAF Base Camp filling station had lodged a complaint on July 7 on the instructions of senior officers of the camp.
