After being deported from Dubai on Wednesday night (3), actor Rayan Van Rooyan has been taken into Weligama police custody for further questioning over an incident of an abandoned vehicle, believed to have been used by him police said.
Police also said that the vehicle was found in a hotel owned by Amila Prasanna Hettihewa, alias ‘Sunshine Sudda’, who was also arrested with Madush in Dubai recently.
Rayan Van Rooyan has also been questioned by the Mirihana Special Unit over the stolen 750-carat diamond along with several other gemstones in Maharagama.
The other suspects who were deported along with the actor and were detained by the CID at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) are being questioned further.
Thirty-one suspects including Makandure Madush, singer Amal Perera and his son Nadeemal were arrested at a luxury hotel in Dubai on February 4.
As of today, a total of 13 individuals have been deported from Dubai to Sri Lanka and have arrived in the country over four separate occasions. Three of them were released while the remainder were either remanded or detained for questioning.
