AG seeks Trial-at-Bar over Avant Garde case

The Attorney General has requested the Chief Justice to appoint a Trial-at-Bar to hear the case in which Nissanka Senadipathi and 13 others are to be indicted in the Colombo High Court over the illegal possession of 816 firearms and 202,935 bullets in connection with the Avant-Garde floating armoury incident.

The AG will indict the accused on 7573 counts in the Colombo High Court over the incident.

Other accused are: Rakna Lanka Company, Avant-Garde Services Company, Palitha Fernando, K. Egodawela, B. Premachandran, V. Samaraweera, D. A. Thilakaratne, N. Senarathne, N. Diyabalanage, N. de Zoysa, Saman Dissanayake, D. Jayaratne and a Ukrainian national. (Shehan Chamika Silva)
