AG declines from testifying at the PSC

Attorney General Dapulla de Livera today appeared before the Parliamentary Select Committee probing Easter Sunday bomb attacks, but declined from testifying saying such an act would be detrimental when it came to performing his duties.

The PSC headed by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri then adjourned the sessions to decide on the next course of action.

When the sessions resumed after the break it was announced that an additional solicitor general and a state counsel would testify on behalf of the AG and they did so later.

The AG was summoned by the PSC to seek clarification on obtaining a warrant from Interpol to arrest National Thawheed Jama'at leader Zharan in 2018. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwadana)
