The Laboratory tests have confirmed that 95% of Sri Lanka’s current COVID-19 cases are of the Omicron variant, Director Health Promotion Bureau (HPB), Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa revealed today.

Addressing a news briefing at the HPB, he said the number of COVID-19 infections is on the rise and so is hospitalization.

“However, we have noticed that people have showed a bit more enthusiasm and interest to get the booster dose which was not the case earlier. People showed slight hesitancy in receiving the booster dose due to various myths,” he added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
