640 stranded Sri Lankans return from Kuwait, Qatar & UAE

A total of 640 Sri Lankans, who were stranded in Kuwait, Qatar and United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the Corona-19 pandemic, arrived in the country this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

Fifty-nine Sri Lankans arrived at the airport at 1.30 a.m. from Doha in Qatar. Another 293 Sri Lankans including three children arrived at 1.45 a.m. by SriLankan Air UL-230 from Kuwait while 288 Sri Lankans in UAE arrived at 8.00 a.m.

Meanwhile, 168 Chinese nationals employed at Chinese investment projects in Sri Lanka arrived on Monday night at BIA from the Chengdu International Airport.

The returnees and their luggage were subjected to health checks and disinfection process at the airport. All passengers were subjected to PCR tests. (T.K.G. Kapila)
