53 returnees on same flight test positive for Convid-19

Fifty three returnees from Qatar, who were on the same flight tested positive for COVID-19 increasing the total number of patients to 3,081, Epidemiology Unit Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said.

He said the 398 passengers on the flight were subjected to PCR tests and then sent to quarantine centres.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases had risen to 190 while the number recovered had increased to 2,879 with the eight who had recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Currently, there are 54 suspected cases under investigation in hospitals while the recovery rate in Sri Lanka is 94.53% and fatality rate remaining at 0.4% with 12 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) said 228,052 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests were carried out as of today. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
