52 Australia bound persons intercepted

Sri Lanka Navy intercepted 52 persons illegally bound for Australia in a multi-day trawler yesterday, navy said.

The trawler named “Rosa Kusum” was intercepted by a Fast Naval Patrol Craft attached to the Western Naval Command 18 nautical miles west of Chilaw.
 
Among the arrested persons are 45 Tamils and 07 Sinhalese that included 21 men, 11 women and 20 children. They are residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Chilaw and Negombo. They were brought to Modera Fisheries Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations. (Navy.lk)
