50 trade unions to meet PM today

Representatives of 50 trade unions would meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this evening to have discussions on some issue concerning the 2016 budget proposals, Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) president Gemunu Wijeratne said.

Mr. Wijeratne yesterday said they would take a decision on the proposed countrywide private bus strike following the outcome of today’s meeting with Mr. Wickremesinghe.

When asked Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) spokesman Dr. Naveen de Soysa said GMOA has not been invited for today’s discussion.

About 50 trade unions representing health, transport, education, postal had announced that they would launch a countrywide strike on December 15 against the budget proposals of 2016.
