Four Jaffna Prison inmates were hospitalized earlier today after falling ill due to a hunger strike. They are to be taken straight back to prison once they recover, Prisons Commissioner Major General V. R Silva told Daily Mirror Online.

The four prisoners are among 12 who had been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act according to Major General Silva.

They had been on a hunger strike since January 7, demanding that their cases be expedited or that they be released. (KA)
