Over 360,000 affected by floods

More than 364,854 persons belonging to more than 97,144 families have been affected due to floods and heavy rain in Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee and several other districts in the North and East, while more than 16,117  are currently housed in displaced camps, the Disaster Management Center said.
 

Four thousand and thirty one families have been sheltered in camps in Batticaloa, Trincomalee  and Kilinochchi Districts. 63 camps located in these districts are providing relief supplies to those affected by floods and rain.

More than 1437 houses were fully damaged and 3562 were partially damaged due to floods in these Districts.  Two deaths were also reported during this period. (Daily Mirror online)
