Thirty-five candidates have handed over their nominations to the Elections Commission to contest the presidential election, Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya announced a short while ago.
However, 41 candidates placed deposits to the Commission. MPs Chamal Rajapaksa and Kumara Welgama, who deposited cash, did not hand over nominations today to contest the presidential election.
The Commission started accepting nominations between 9.00 a.m to 11.00 a.m this morning.
