304 Lankans from India, Australia arrived this morning

A total of 304 Sri Lankans who were stranded in Australia and India due to COVID-19 pandemic, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on two SriLankan Airlines flights this morning, the Airport Duty Manager said.

He said the flights arrived from Mumbai, India and Melbourne, Australia.

“The SriLankan Airlines flight UL-1042 which arrived from Mumbai brought 18 passengers attached to the tri-forces in the country. The flight arrived at 04.45 a.m today. 

Meanwhile, flight no UL605 that took off from Melbourne brought 286 Sri Lankan passengers who were stranded in the country. The fight arrived at Katunayake airport at 05.50 a.m today,” he said.

Upon arrival at the airport, the persons and their belongings were disinfected 
They were then examined by the Airport Health Medical Unit and airport security officials to see if they had any Coronavirus symptoms.

Thereafter, all these passengers were taken to quarantine centres. (T.K.G Kapila)
