The body of a 21-year-old man was found at the T.B. Illangaratne Grounds in Mulleriyawa where the T20 World Cup semifinal match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was shown on a giant screen on Thursday night.

The cause of the death is yet to be established.

The police found the body after a resident of the area had informed them.

Police said the body was identified as that of Kasun Madusanka who was a resident of Wennawatta in Wellampitiya.

A massive crowd had gathered at the T.B. Illangaratne Grounds to watch the match, which was telecast on a giant screen.

Inquiries had revealed that the youth had come with some friends to watch the match.

However when the people were leaving the grounds after the match, the friends had thought he was sleeping so they had left without him. Police have recorded statements from his friends who accompanied him to the grounds.

The magisterial inquiry was conducted and the body was sent to the Colombo National Hospital for the postmortem examination. (Supun Dias)
