The Moratuwa Police said they have arrested 167 suspects over various narcotic and illicit liquor related offences and produced them in the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court within the month of August.
Eighty eight suspects have been arrested over brewing moonshine, 44 for possession of cannabis and 35 over possession of heroin.
A total of 208,000 litres of moonshine, 224 grams of cannabis and 30,000 milligrammes of heroin were produced in the court.
Police said the arrested include residents of Rawatawatta, Moratuwella, Angulana, Willorawatta and Lakshapathiya.
Police said some of the arrested were addicted to drugs and that investigations are continuing to look into drug networks operating in the area. (Rekha Tharangani Fonseka)
