16 cases reported from Kalutara, 38 from Gampaha: NOCPCO

Nearly 200 villagers are quarantined after having found 16 COVID positive cases from Kalutara, Payagala and  Horagaskale police areas yesterday, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

They said PCR tests will be conducted on those villagers today or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, another 38 COVID positive individuals were detected following New Year festivals conducted in  Ragama, Batuawatte and Divulapitiya police areas in Gampaha, NOCPCO said.

Accordingly, 12 cases were reported from Ragama and Batuwatta while the remaining 26 were from Divulapitiya, they said.

Meanwhile, Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva yesterday announced that the Thiththawelgala Grama Niladhari Division in the Kumbukgete police division in Kurunegala District had been isolated with immediate effect.
