About 16 Ayurvedic medicines have so far been approved and given recommendations to be used as medicines to boost immunity against COVID-19, Ayurvedic Commissioner Dr. Dhammika Abeygunawardana said.

He said initially, two medicines including 'Suwa Dharani’ were approved by the Ayurvedic Department.

“Subsequently, 100 Ayurvedic recipes were directed to us and at last, it was decided to approve 14 such medicines which are effective for boosting immunity against COVID virus,” he said.

“These all are natural medicines and no one would suffer from side effects and anyone can use them without any fear or doubt,” he pointed out.

He said these medicines could be obtained from the regional Ayurvedic officers.

The Commissioner also urged the general public to refrain from experimenting  ayurvedic recipes circulating on social media and other platforms which claim to be useful to combat the deadly disease. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
