15 Lankan fishermen arrested

The Indian Coast Guard apprehended three Sri Lankan fishing boats with 15 crew for illegally fishing in Indian waters.

According to ICG sources, the boats had approximately two tonnes of fish on-board. The boats named Sandilma, Nadika and Indunil-5, which had sailed from Dondra in Lanka, were apprehended 125 nautical miles north-east of Chennai.

All the three boats have been brought to Kasimedu fishing harbour to be handed over to the local police.

So far eight boats with 40 crew have been arrested and 5,700 kg of fish catch have been seized. (expressbuzz)
