A 60-year-old male, who returned from Bahrain and being treated at the Chilaw General Hospital, died due to Covid-19 today, reporting the 13th death from the virus infection in Sri Lanka, health authorities confirmed.
The deceased named W.E. Perera was a resident of Nugegoda.
Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, said the deceased who had worked as a sailor arrived in Sri Lanka on September 02.
However, he had not been diagnosed with Covid-19 upon arrival but was admitted to the Chilaw General Hospital last Wednesday (9) while in quarantine.
The immediate cause of death has been identified as a heart attack. (Sheain Fernandopulle and Augustine Fernando)
